Durga Puja 2020: Durga Puja will start after one month of mahalaya this year, Why?

The message of arrival of mother Durga is conveyed to us by nature first of all. White clouds in the blue sky of autumn, the sweet smell  of beautiful flowers, cough flowers, idols of Kumartuli, with these signals every Bengali can feel the moment when Durga Puja will come. However, the mahalaya has a very strong connection with Durgapuja, because the maiden's hymn begins with the goddess. From the day of Mahalaya, everyone mark their calender the dates

 Basically The difference between Mahalaya and Durga Puja is only 1 week. But this Year the difference is 1 month. This Year Mahalaya is on 17 September and Maha Sasti is on 22 October i.e more than one month. Like this year, similar incidents happened in year 1982 and 2011.

Why a month difference between Mahalaya and Durgapuja?

 According to the Hindu calendar, there is an extra month every two to three years, called 'adhikamas' or 'malmash'.

No good occasion are done in this month's. That's Why Durgapuja not occurred in September month.
