Rating: 3.5 / 5 Star Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Sanya Malhotra, Asha Negi Director: Anurag Basu
Leaked sex tapes, money-laden suitcases and two horrific murders; The four collide with each other due to completely different types of fate, coincidences and a mad criminal. The chessboard has been compared to life many times, but the story of these four colors coming out of ludo is completely different. As the saying goes, whatever happens is not just a coincidence.
In the journey of life, many faces come face to face with each other, for some reason or another, behind which you are unaware. Director Anurag Basu's 'ludo' is one such film. There is a dialogue in the film where it is said, 'Insan kya hai? Life ki bisat par hari, nili, lal, pili gotia.
In Ludo, four stories are shown together, which are twisted but at one point they become connected to each other. The first story is about Akash (Aditya Roy Kapoor) , whose girlfriend Ahna (Isanya Malhotra) with a sex tape was leaked on the porn site. On the other hand, Ahna is supposed to get married to someone else in four days. But this tape has now caused problems in both their lives and Sattu Tripathi came on the screen to get them out of this problem.
The second story is by Bittu Tiwari (Abhishek Bachchan). Who was once considered the right hand of the seventies. But Bittu moved away from the criminal world in the pursuit of family life. Bittu's family is full now. But there is a saying that old deeds never give up. This is the tragedy of their lives. The third story is Alok alias Alur (Prince Rao). He loves Pinky (Fatima) very much. And for the sake of this love, Alok does everything from stealing to murder.
The fourth story is Rahul and Shreejar. Those who have problems with their own lives and jobs. But in one fell swoop the fortunes changed so much that the simple flat life of the two became unexpected. And all these stories and characters are associated with Sattu Tripathi (Pankaj Tripathi). The events of Sattu's life affect all these characters or it can be said that all the cocoons reach their own home.
Instructions
It is better not to express any doubt about the work of Parichak Anurag Basu. In every film from Barfi to Metro, every character seems to speak under his direction. Similarly, in the movie 'Iudo', he was no exception. The punchline of the film is 'Insan Kya Hai?' Anurag Basu has tried to show this idea through four stories together but in different ways.
He has been successful in some places. The film has comedy, emotion, mystery and instability. But you may fail to predict what will happen next. The main USP of this film is the combination of acting of great actors and the directing of the director. However, some parts of the film are reminiscent of ‘Iudo’, the 2019 Tamil film‘ Super Deluxe ’.
Acting
Needless to say, the performance of a film where all the actors are great will be great. Actors in all the characters have succeeded in showing their skillful acting. Abhishek Bachchan was a perfect fit for the role of Bittu Tiwari. After a long time, Abhishek got a chance to show his acting again and he did not disappoint.
Sometimes anger, sometimes love and sometimes emotion was evident in his eyes. In the character of Sattu Tripathi, Pankaj Tripathi is absolutely appropriate. No question mark can be put on his performance. Prince Rao had immersed himself in the role of Alok Kumar, proving once again that he excelled in all the roles. Other actors like Sanya Malhotra, Fatima, Aditya Roy Kapoor and others have also performed quite well in their roles.
Other aspects
Not just directing or acting, Anurag Basu is in charge of storytelling, cinematography, screenplay and production. Anurag Basu's film has its own impression, which has also been seen in 'Iudo'. The dialogue in the film can connect the audience with the characters, but it gets lost somewhere. Where the director is to be commended for the cinematography. Through four stories, Alada has portrayed a different character very well. The two-and-a-half-hour long movie is likely to lose the patience of the viewers as it is too long.
